This is a genuine quote from the Buddhist scriptures. It’s from the Sutta Nipata.

“Speak only endearing speech, speech that is welcomed. Speech, when it brings no evil to others, is a pleasant thing.”

“Speak only endearing speech ... Speech, when it brings no evil to others, is a pleasant thing.” —Buddha Click To Tweet

  1. A *lot* is missing in translation here. He was not saying dont engage in speech that offends others. He was saying to use speech to help not to hurt. To avoid being vulgar and abrasive because of the energy it brings. In a world where we obsess over the eye of the beholder I just wanted to leave this distinction made.
